Are you missing one or more teeth?
Until recently replacing missing teeth was accomplished by either
a removable type appliance (full or partial denture) or a fixed type
bridge made from metal and porcelain. The fixed bridge would require
removing tooth structure of healthy teeth on either side of the missing
tooth so that a "crown" could be made to support the "pontic" or fake
tooth in the middle.
