Are you missing one or more teeth?
Until recently replacing missing teeth was accomplished by either
a removable type appliance (full or partial denture) or a fixed type
bridge made from metal and porcelain. The fixed bridge would require
removing tooth structure of healthy teeth on either side of the missing
tooth so that a "crown" could be made to support the "pontic" or fake
tooth in the middle.
Implant Dentistry has become one of the most predictable treatment
alternatives that dentists can now offer to patients who are missing teeth.
Through the use of dental implants, a whole new range of functional and
cosmetic treatment options can be offered to patients who may otherwise
have had to suffer with removable dentures. For many circumstances, implants
may offer the best way to restore beautiful smiles!!
Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant sounds like an imposing and
difficult procedure. In fact, depending upon your individual condition,
the process can be quite simple. Dental implants were developed to replace
the "root" portion of your tooth. The new
will then be used to
support a new tooth, or as a new support for a larger prosthetic replacement
for your missing teeth.
When patients are missing all of their teeth, an
excellent implant supported restoration is called a
"BAR-OVERDENTURE".
